Nicky and Veon met on 25 June eleven years ago at West End, when it was still in the Waterfront. Veon proposed on Valentine’s Day, but with a slightly unusual approach. It was five o’ clock on a Monday morning and he was just about to fly to Johannesburg from Cape Town!

Nicky and Veon were married at Webersburg Estate on a day of blue skies and golden sunlight. The couple were bowled over by the experience. “ What can I say, Aleit... it was the best wedding I have attended so far! It was an out of this world experience and this is no exaggeration... top billing!

After the beautiful ceremony, which was held on the lush grounds of the estate, the newlyweds and their guests moved on to the indoor reception. Nicky and Veon wanted their wedding to have a stylish and sophisticated ambience, but also to be striking and unusual. The table settings were elegantly simple, with modern glassware, black table runners and minimalist arrangements of St Joseph’s Lilies, roses and freesias. For a dramatic twist, the couple opted for colourful cocktails and bold shades of lighting.

Nicky and Veon hesitate to pinpoint their favourite part of the day, because every moment of it was so wonderful. But Veon will never forget the dazzling fireworks display, while Nicky cherishes the moment when they came down the stairs into the reception area. “It was so overwhelming for me as I never anticipated that it was going to be so stunning!”

The newlyweds’ honeymoon was short but sweet, consisting of a laid-back five day cruise from Durban to Barra Lodge on a ship called the Melody. “Did we EVER leave the cabin? No because we took too many seasick tablets and did not realise that they make you sleepy... I did not complain! It was fun and the weather was wonderful. Waking up to the sounds of the ocean with your husband was extremely romantic and it will never be forgotten. He spoilt me rotten.
