Only daughter to my parents, I am currently the Quality Manager at Simba Chips. My background is Science - completed a BSc years ago (definitely not going to let you know how long ago that was!), but the food environment is very interesting and keeps me on my toes. With the Postgrad diploma in Business Management has helped in integrating science into business.
At present I do not yet have any children of my own, but I am definitely planning to. So watch this space.
I'm a very bubbly, easy going person - incredibly talkative, and absolutely love making jokes (mostly at my own expense). I don't have many friends, but people can hear me coming on from a mile away, so most people know who I am. The friends I do keep are very dear to me, and have known me for years already. In one aspect, you could say I'm forward, but that's what make me me.
If you don't know about us, then you definitely can't come to the wedding....
I am the Director of Itopia Interactive, a web design company which I created in 2006. With both print and internet experience, I am able to offer a unique service to clients.
I have two children: Kayla (10) and Jared (3). They are both part of the wedding, and are very excited about it.
I'm a lot more quiet than Nicky, but like going against the grain. I don't typically follow the expected route, and that keeps people on their toes (especially Nicky!!!). I have great sense of humour, and can spend hours laughing with myself!
The first time we met (we think) was at Vibe for Tamara's 16th birthday... yes, the infamous Club Vibe!!!! That was probably 8-10 years ago (damn, we're old!!). We were both very alcoholic at the time (so very different to now - now it's just me that's the alcoholic!!), so you can imagine how much fun we had...
At that time, our interaction was very brief, and I'm pretty sure both of us were involved with other people at the time. We were nonetheless rather silly, but nothing much happened.
However, our interactions over the years became more frequent, until we became "friends" about 4-5 years ago. We used to go out to parties almost every week as "friends", and we kept having to correct everyone that we weren't actually a couple. We kept missing each other... first he was ready, then I was ready, then he was ready... you get the picture. Our friends have had quite a task trying to support us over the years, even though I'm sure that they all knew this was going to happen anyway.
It is has been a long road, but eventually we hooked up just over 2 years ago, and we've been together ever since.

We went to Swellendam after my (Nicky's) birthday in 2007 for a weekend getaway. It was a chance for us to relax, and spend some quality time together. It was really a lovely time that we spent there, but I was a bit preoccupied...
On the evening of my birthday, we went to Pigalle in Green Point for dinner - a secluded table was reserved for us, incredibly romantic. So obviously you can understand how I could possibly have thought that Kurt was going to propose then. Unfortunately it was not to be, and it left me a bit confused, and slightly disappointed. But I tried to allay my own fears by saying that it would happen when it was supposed to.
Anyway, we go to dinner in Swellendam one evening - beautiful little restaurant in the heart of the town. Dinner was lovely, and the conversation was very pleasant too. I don't really know what possessed me (must've been the wine), but I then decided that I had to tell Kurt what was bothering me - And there I spill the beans completely: That I was expecting to be engaged already, that although I was disappointed I was okay, that I still love him even though it didn't happen... blah blah. To crown it all off, I burst into uncontrollable tears and and am totally inconsolable.
The entire time I'm talking, Kurt has this funny smile on his face. I'm wondering "Does this man actually think this in funny????", and then he tells me that if I had kept my outburst in for 10 minutes until we got back to the room, he was planning to propose RIGHT THEN!
Obviously once the shock of me really putting my foot in it wore off, we quickly got the bill and rushed back to the B&B. I got all nervous and stuff, and Kurt, ever charming, went down on one knee, and I just crumbled! We popped a mini-bottle of champagne, and toasted to our future.
Albeit that it was most likely one of the more unconventional proposals in history, it was by far so incredibly romantic and memorable.
